HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky.-  The UIndy baseball team (22-10, 13-5 GLVC) split a doubleheader at 15th-ranked Northern Kentucky Sunday.  After implementing a 17-3 rout in the opener, the Greyhounds came up on the short end of a 3-2 decision in game two.

GAME 1  (9 inn.)
The Hounds, who were down 2-1 after one inning, broke it open with 10 tallies in the third and fourth frames combined.  Two Norse errors and a passed ball contributed to a six-run third inning that including a two-run double from Nick Whitty.

After the first-inning hiccup, UIndy starter Donovan Drake (5-1) held the Norse to one run over his final seven innings of work.  The Whiteland, Ind., native finished with a line of seven hits, three earned runs and four Ks in eight innings, on the way winning his fifth straight decision.

Leadoff man Mike Page went 4-for-7 at the plate with a season-high six RBI.  He was one of seven Greyhounds to score twice.

GAME 2  (7 inn.)
Sunday's second game was scoreless through four-and-a-half innings before the GLVC East-leading Norse (24-10, 17-3) hung two on the board in the bottom of the fifth.

The Hounds answered with two runs of their own in the very next inning.  UIndy loaded the bases with a pair of singles and a walk before a Bryce Feller sac fly followed immediately by an NKU error tied the game.

With starter Hugo Lalonde still on the mound, the Greyhounds could not keep their hosts off the board in the sixth.  The Norse began the frame with two singles, and later got an RBI knock from third baseman Kris Hecktor that proved to be the game winner.

Lalonde (3-4) went the distance despite taking the loss.  He surrendered seven hits and three runs in six innings.  Centerfielder Matt Maringer and catcher Whitty each had a pair of hits.

The Hounds have two mid-week dates on tap.  They travel to non-conference Urbana Tuesday, Apr. 17 before hosting division-rival Saint Joseph's the very next day.
