The Greyhounds came up on the winning side of another drama-filled contest.  After winning each of the last two games in extra innings, UIndy took a 3-0 lead into the ninth before escaping with the one-run victory.

The Hawks (32-16) plated two runs in the final inning, as first baseman Ryan Porter smoked a two-run triple to right field, putting the a runner at third with one out.

With the tying run 90 feet away, closer Chris Saroff earned his 10th save of the year by striking out the final two batters.  Working for the third straight day, Saroff has garnered two wins and a save in four conference-tourney games.

Starting pitching Alex Wood (6-1) gave the Hounds their third consecutive quality start.  The Marion, Ky. native surrendered just two hits in six-plus innings while striking out three and walking none.

Offensively, UIndy picked up its three runs in the seventh.  All three were unearned, as the Hawks committed two errors in the frame.  Scott Lawley's single produced the team's only RBI.

The win was the Hounds' 40th on the year.  Their current winning percentage of .741 is their highest since 2001 and second highest in Head Coach Gary Vaught's 18-year tenure at the school.

With the Saturday matinee marking the tourney's first loss for the Hawks, UIndy and Rockhurst will do it all over again when the two square off at 7 p.m. ET tonight.  The winner will advance to Sunday's GLVC championship game.
