Women's golf earns ninth at NCAA Championship

LOUISVILLE, Ky.- The UIndy women's golf team (337-326-308-334) concluded its 2011-12 season with a ninth-place finish at the NCAA Division II Championship Saturday.  The Greyhounds have now finished in the top 10 in the nation in three of the past four years.

Senior Darin Pinnick (84-85-75-85) capped a stellar collegiate career by tying for 39th among the 70-golfer field.  The two-time all-conference honoree notched a team-high four tournament wins this season while compiling a career-best 78.3 stroke average.

However, sophomore Jenny Konop (85-83-76-80) carded the lowest score by a Greyhound at the championship, as her four-round 324 (+36) was good for a share of 29th.

Fellow-sophomore Amy Thompson (84-80-77-85) tied for 33rd, freshman Regan Pittard (84-82-81-87) tied for 44th and sophomore Brianna Scheidler (91-81-80-84) sared 51st.

On the season, the Hounds set program records in tournament wins (9) and winning percentage (.863).  They collected victories in seven of nine events this spring, including taking the both the conference and regional crowns.
