YPSILANTI, Mich.- The 15th-ranked UIndy baseball team (44-14) upped its winning streak to seven with an 8-5 victory against Wayne State Friday at the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional, held in Ypsilanti, Mich.  The top-seeded Greyhounds have yet to lose in the double-elimination tournament, while No. 3-seed and host Wayne State is now done for the season.

UIndy fell in a 3-0 hole after four-and-a-half innings.  With three runs already on the board, the Warriors (34-21) had starter JaVaun West on the ropes in the fifth by loading the bases with one out, but the all-conference pitcher induced a much-needed ground ball to get the 5-2-3 double play and end the threat.

The Greyhounds snatched the momentum with four runs in both the fifth and sixth innings.  Nick Whitty, Ryan Wides, and Mike Page scored in both innings; while Page, Wides and Matt Maringer recorded an RBI in each frame.

Down three runs heading into the ninth, the Warriors made things interesting by again loading the bases with one out.  But after a mound visit from Head Coach Gary Vaught, closer Chris Saroff struck out the next batter and got a lazy fly to center to notch his 11th save.

Saroff's save total is good for second in UIndy's all-time single-season annals.  Meanwhile, West got the win to move to a perfect 8-0 on the year.

The victory moves the Hounds into Saturday's regional semifinal where they will face the winner of tonight's Rockhurst/Northern Kentucky match-up.  First pitch from Oestrike Stadium tomorrow is scheduled for 11 a.m.
