Women's tennis wraps up fall at Midwest Regional

JENISON, Mich. –
Sophomore Brooke Boyts won both of her matches in the Flight B singles draw Friday  to advance to the quarterfinals for UIndy women's tennis on Friday in the USTA/ITA Midwest Regional Championships.

Boyts defeated Katie Piorkowski of Saginaw Valley State 6-2, 6-1 in the opening round and then returned to the court to win 6-2, 6-3 against Allison Fecko of Grand Valley State. Boyts' run ended with a 6-1, 6-1 defeat to Kelly Trapp of GVSU in the quarterfinals on Saturday.

Senior Alex Covington and freshman Macey Speer won their opening doubles match in Flight B, 8-3, over Piorkowski and Charlotte Wong of Saginaw Valley, but fell in the next round, 9-8 (6), in a tight match to Tanya Joseph and Jessica Kruczek of Wayne State.

Freshman Allie Smith and junior Taylor Eckert both fell in the opening round of the "A" singles draw, but bounced back to win consolation matches. Smith defeated Liz Wilm of Southern Indiana 7-6 (6), 6-4, while Eckert won against Ashland's Martina Baca 6-0, 6-0.
