OWENSBORO, Ky. – The fifth-ranked UIndy women's basketball team (11-2, 4-1 GLVC) endured its first conference loss of the season Thursday night, falling 67-61 at Kentucky Wesleyan.  The Panthers (8-4, 3-2) have had the Greyhounds' number of late, winning five of the last six meetings, including each of the last three on their home court.

After a 27-27 score at the half, KWC strung together a damaging 17-2 run to build a 13-point advantage with 12 minutes to go.  The home Panthers finished the night with just eight turnovers compared to 18 from the Hounds.

UIndy came storming back, knotting it at 56-all.  Senior Sydney Weinert, in her first game back from injury, delivered three consecutive buckets to help the visitors erase the deficit.  Junior Rose Savela also came up big in the comeback, as the Manistee, Mich., native drained a pair of threes to fuel the surge, the last of which tied the game with less than four minutes on the clock.

The Panthers quickly pushed the margin back to six, however, as the Hounds committed a couple of poorly-timed turnovers and converted on just two possessions down the stretch.

Junior Katy McIntosh – who arrived at the game just 20 minutes before tip-off due to nursing clinicals in Indianapolis – led all scorers with 14 points.  She also recorded her first double-double of the season by adding 11 rebounds to go with six assists.

Kristin Turner scored 13 points and Weinert 10, while junior Eliza Wortman finished with nine rebounds and three blocks.

UIndy remains in the tri-state area to face the Screaming Eagles of Southern Indiana Jan. 19.  Tip time Saturday afternoon is scheduled for 2 p.m. Eastern.

Note:  Thursday's contest marks the Greyhounds' final Great Lakes Valley Conference game at KWC, as the Panthers are moving to the newly-formed Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) next season.
