INDIANAPOLIS – The 15th-ranked UIndy women's basketball team (13-3, 6-2 GLVC) recorded its second straight blowout win, handing visiting McKendree a 81-39 defeat. Junior
Katy McIntosh just missed the program's second-ever triple-double with 20 points, nine rebounds and nine assists.
McIntosh also added two steals and a block while shooting 8-for-9 (.889) from the floor, all while playing just 26 minutes. With one more rebound and one more assist, she would have been the first (and only) Greyhound with a triple-double since Melissa Graham, who turned the trick in March of 1995 with 10 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists versus Southern Indiana.
McKendree (5-11, 0-8) managed only one lead all night, as an early 3-pointer made it 3-2 Bearcats. It was all Greyhounds from that point, however, as the home team orchestrated a 23-7 run to earn a 15-point advantage before the midway point of the half.
The lead grew to as many as 17 before the score settled at 41-26 at the break. McIntosh led all scorers with 15 points.
Things did not get any better for the Bearcats, as the visitors mustered just a single field goal in the opening 12 minutes of the final period. Meanwhile, the Hounds raced out to insurmountable lead, with the margin eclipsing 30 almost as quickly as it passed 20.
The Bearcats shot a paltry 2-for-33 (061) from the field in the second half, finishing with a .203 field goal percentage.
Three other Hounds joined McIntosh in double figures as
Kristin Turner scored 15 points and
Kirsten Gliesmann and
Eliza Wortman each had 10. Junior
Rose Savela recorded a career-high four blocks while fresman
Kylie Ballard grabbed four rebounds.
Having won their last two games by a combined 85 points, the Hounds look to keep it rolling Saturday when they host the Knights of Bellarmine at Nicoson Hall. Tip time for “Pack the House Night” is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
