LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Tyrae Robinson hit two free throws with 9.7 seconds left to lead NCAA Division II No. 21 UIndy men's basketball over No. 11 Bellarmine, 64-62, at Knights Hall. The win by the Greyhounds (16-4, 8-4 GLVC) snapped the Knights' (16-4, 8-4 GLVC) 29-game home winning streak, which was the longest active streak in Division II.

"This means a lot to our guys and shows that we can compete when we put our minds to it," head coach Stan Gouard said. "I'm glad these guys were able accomplish something like this."

The Greyhounds trailed by five, 61-56, with 32.8 seconds left, but cut the lead to three, 61-59, with 21.8 to go after Reece Cheatham hit all three free throws after being fouled behind the arc. Chris Dowe then made just 1-of-2 freebies for Bellarmine and Robinson then drove to the basket for a lay-in to cut the margin to one, 62-61, with 12.8 seconds left.

UIndy immediately got the ball back after Daniel Daudu deflected the inbounds pass off a Knight for the turnover. Robinson earned his free throws seconds later after Keisten Jones picked up a blocking foul as Robinson tried to navigate a ball screen.

"We didn't want to give up and I wanted to stretch the game out and give ourselves a chance," Gouard said. "I thought the biggest play was when Tyrae turned down the ball screen and drove in for the lay-up that made it a one-point game to keep the pressure on Bellarmine."

The Knights had one more chance, but James Hollowell intercepted Dowe's cross court pass and ran the clock down to 1.5 seconds before being fouled and hitting one free throw for the final margin.

Hollowell led all players with 19 points, along with four rebounds and career-high four steals, while Leland Brown had 15 points. Robinson finished with eight points, while Reece Cheatham scored nine. Brennan McElroy added nine points, 10 rebounds, four assists and two steals.

Bellarmine was led by Vance Hall with 15 points and Dowe with 14.

UIndy shot 48 percent (24-50) for the game, including 4-of-16 three-pointers, and converted 12-of-15 free throws, all in the final 6:26 of the game. The Knights shot 47.9 percent (23-48), including 16-of-27 in the second half, and made 7-of-20 three-pointers. After hitting 33-of-36 free throws in the win at Nicoson Hall two weeks ago, Bellarmine was limited to 9-of-14 in the rematch.

Bellarmine took its first lead, 48-47, since it was 5-4 with 4:51 to play after Keisten Jones converted Chris Dowe's missed lay-up. After forcing a stop, the Knights added to lead, 50-47, on a baseline jumper from Ryan Burton.

The Knights fought back from trailing by six at half, 24-18, to tie the game, 29-29, but the Greyhounds were able to regain an eight-point lead, 42-34, with 8:57 to play. Brown hit only his second three-pointer of the season and then Jared Grady found Hollowell after a loose ball scramble for a lay-up in the 5-0 spurt.

The Greyhounds took control of the game with a 10-0 run that turned a three-point deficit into a seven-point lead, 12-5, with 14:06 on the clock. The first eight points all came inside and Brown's score to cap the run was just outside the block.

The Knights rallied to pull back to within two, 14-12, but lay-ups by Brennan McElroy and James Hollowell and a free throw line jumper by Tyrae Robinson pushed the lead to eight, 20-12, with 5:23 left. The Greyhounds were scoreless for almost four minutes, but BU scored just three points in that span until Reece Cheatham canned a jumper and McElroy scored off a Daniel Daudu steal to grow the lead to nine, 24-15. Bellarmine came back with a three-pointer to account for the halftime margin, 24-18.

UIndy shot 44 percent in the first half (12-27) with 18 points in the paint and 0-of-8 three-pointers. The Greyhounds also held Bellarmine to zero points in the paint on 7-of-21 shooting (.333), but the hosts did make four triples. Neither team attempted a free throw in the first half that featured 21 combined turnovers.

The Greyhounds remain on the road when they head to face Great Lakes Valley Conference newcomer McKendree on Saturday at 4 p.m.
