INDIANAPOLIS –
The UIndy men's tennis team suffered a tight loss to No. 40 Rockhurst, 5-2, in the third place match of the 2013 Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Tennis Championship on Saturday night at the UIndy Tennis Center.

This marks the best conference tournament finish for the Greyhounds since defeating Southern Indiana in the third place match of the 2006 GLVC Championships.

The Greyhounds (6-6) took the early lead over the Hawks (13-7), 1-0, when Alex Poe and Preston Swain took an 8-2 decision at No. 3 doubles.

Rockhurst recovered and took the lead into singles, 2-1, after an 8-4 win at No. 2 and an 8-5 win at No. 1.

The match appeared destined for a 5-4 finish with the team's splitting first set wins, but the Hawks were able to finish just a bit faster to earn the victory.

Luke Hubert scored the Greyhounds' second point with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 3 at almost the exact same moment as the Hawks sealed the victory with a win at No. 2.

Swain was leading 6-4, 5-1 in his match at No. 6, while Ryan Frankel held a 6-3, 4-4 lead at No. 1 singles.
