Men's basketball settles at #12 in final D-II poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The UIndy men's basketball team (23-4) will enter the NCAA Tournament ranked 12th in the season's final NABC/Division II Top 25 Poll, released Tuesday.  The Greyhounds fell four spots after losing to a hot Bellarmine team in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament quarterfinals last week.

Though the dip broke its streak of seven consecutive weeks in the top 10, UIndy secured just its second-ever ranking in the coaches' final poll*.  Overall, the Hounds have been in the top 25 for 13 consecutive weeks, good for the longest such streak in school history.

Joining UIndy in the final rankings are fellow-GLVC-members Drury (No. 8), Southern Indiana (14) and Wisconsin-Parkside (22).  Meanwhile, Lewis and Bellarmine each received votes.

The Greyhounds earned the No. 2 seed at the upcoming NCAA D-II Midwest Regional, hosted by Drury Univeristy.  UIndy faces division-rival and seventh-seeded Bellarmine for fourth time this season and second time in nine days.  Their first-round match-up is set for Saturday, Mar. 15 at 3:30 p.m. ET in Springfield, Mo.

*UIndy was ranked No. 3 in the final poll of the 1996-97 season.
