ST. LOUIS –
The 31st-ranked UIndy men's tennis team advanced to the Great Lakes Valley Tournament semifinal with a 5-1 win over Truman State Friday morning in the Dwight Davis Tennis Center.

It's just the second postseason win for the program since 2006 – the first coming in last season's conference tournament.

It was 2007 when the Hounds (14-2, 6-0 GLVC) last won the division, but with a perfect conference record they finished at the top and entered the GLVC Tournament as the East's 1-seed.

The Bulldogs (4-12, 2-3), conference newcomers and the West division's 4-seed, entered the tournament on a four-match skid. UIndy made sure their stay in their inaugural tournament was a short one in Friday's rout.

Nico Kastunowicz and Ryan Frankel, both named to the All-Conference team last night, took care of business in No. 1 doubles with an 8-4 win over Jake Ohlhausen and Griffin Smith.

The Greyhounds also got a doubles point from Luke Hubert and Fernando Taricano, who won their 12th match as a pair, 8-1 over Truman's Adam King and Ryan Bunselmeyer

The 'Dogs got on the board when Kirk Schlueter and Joe Murphy-Baum defeated UIndy's Marco Torres and Fausto Cordova 8-6 in No. 2 doubles.

Heading into singles action with a 2-1 lead, the Greyhounds won the first three completed matches to seal the 5-1 victory.

Torres rebounded from his doubles loss to take down King in No. 4 singles, 6-3, 6-0.

Hubert, a two-time GLVC Player of the Week winner, improved to 23-4 (16-0 dual match) this season with a 6-2, 6-1 victory in No. 5 singles over Schluerter.

In No. 6 singles, Taricano defeated Mike Merchant 6-2, 6-2 for his seventh victory in a row.

Kastunowicz, Frankel and Cordova were each in action on courts 1-3, respectively, before the Greyhounds sealed the win.

UIndy will face McKendree (19-4, 4-2 GLVC) Saturday at 10 a.m. ET with a chance to advance to the championship match.
