ST. LOUIS –
The UIndy women's tennis team defeated Rockhurst 5-1 Friday to move on to the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament semifinal match.

It was the second time the Greyhounds (11-5, 5-1 GLVC) downed the Hawks (7-7, 4-2) this season, after handing them a 7-2 loss back on February 16. The Hounds also earned a third place finish in last year's GLVC Tournament with a 5-1 win over RU.

In a match-up of regionally-ranked doubles tandems, Allie Smith and Taylor Eckert (8th) defeated Taylor Revline and Emma Schelble (10th) 8-6 in the No. 1 draw, marking the duo's 12th win of the season.

Brooke Boyts and Kasey Land took care of business in No. 3 doubles, improving to a team-best 14-2 with an 8-2 victory over Truman's Juarez Herrera and Maddy Kayser.

The lone Hawks point was in No. 2 doubles, where Jessica Koraleski and Alex Schelble defeated Macey Speer and Selenay Heper.
After doubles, the Greyhound won the first three completed singles matches to dismiss the Hawks.

Smith, the 14th-ranked singles player in the region, won in straight sets over E. Schelble, 6-1, 6-3 on court one. In their Feb. 16 match, Smith won 6-3, 6-1.

Speer bounced back from the doubles loss to win 7-6, 6-1 over A. Schelble in No. 5 singles. She improved to 5-1 in the No. 5 slot this spring, and 11-6 overall for 2013-14.

Boyts won her 11th match of the year with a 6-4, 6-0 sweep over Kayser in No. 6 singles.

Maria Mendes, Eckert and Heper were all battling in tough singles matches when the Hounds earned their game-winning point.

UIndy faces top-seed Drury (18-4, 6-0 GLVC) in the tournament semifinal Saturday at 1 p.m. ET. The Panthers ended the Hounds' championship hopes in last season's semifinal match, 5-0.
