WATERLOO, Ill. – The UIndy women's golf team recorded a rare three-peat at the 2014 Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship, held in Waterloo, Ill., Saturday and Sunday.  The nine-stroke win at Annbriar Golf Course gave the Greyhounds their third consecutive conference crown, good for the just the second such stretch in league history and first since 2001*.

The Greyhounds also horded a number of individual year-end awards.  Senior Jenny Konop collected her second straight GLVC Player of the Year award, while Brent Nicoson earned his third consecutive GLVC Coach of the Year honor.  The Konop's honor is the sixth overall for the program and fifth in the last seven years.  She is just the third player in conference history to repeat as Player of the Year.

In addition, Konop, junior Jaclyn Schindler, senior Amy Thompson, junior Chanice Young and sophomore Molly Ward were all named All-GLVC.

It was Schindler that led the way this weekend, as the Martinsville, Ind., native finished runner-up in the 70-golfer field.  She fired an even-par 72 Saturday before finishing with a 78 on a windy Sunday to finish five back of medalist Anastasia Carter (70-75) of Southern Indiana.

Konop (75-80) secured a top-five finish as her two-round score of 155 was good for a share of fifth.  Thompson (82-75) jumped up 14 spots Sunday to take eighth place, senior Brianna Scheidler (77-81) tied for ninth for her best GLVC Championship finish, while Young (80-81) placed 16th to round out UIndy's top five.

UIndy's win secured the GLVC's automatic postseason bid.  Already ranked No. 1 in the most-recent regioal rankings, UIndy is assured of its eighth consecutive trip to the NCAA Division II Regional, set for May 4-6 in nearby Noblesville, Ind., and Purgatory Golf Course.  The official announcement of the field is scheduled for Monday, Apr. 28.
