Greyhounds earn highest ranking since 1996-97

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The undefeated UIndy men's basketball team grabbed the No. 3 ranking in the latest NABC/Divison II Top 25 poll, released Tuesday.  Up two spots from last week, the Greyhounds (13-0, 5-0 GLVC) attained their highest position in the weekly coaches poll since earning the No. 3 spot in the final poll of the 1997 season.

The Hounds climbed up from the fifth spot after former unbeatens Colorado-Colorado Springs and Tarleton State fell last week.  UIndy is now one of only four teams in D-II still with a perfect record this season.  Overall, the Greyhounds have been ranked in the top 10 in 10 of the last 16 NABC polls dating back to last season.  UIndy topped out at No. 4 last year, while its highest-ever ranking came when it spent seven days at No. 1 starting Jan. 28, 1997.

Fellow-GLVC-member and UIndy's next opponent Bellarmine (12-1, 4-0) is once again the highest ranked one-loss team in the poll.  The Knights came in one spot behind the Hounds at No. 4, while Wisconsin-Parkside (12-1, 4-0) is the only other GLVC squad in the ranking breaking in at No. 22.

Tip time for the top-five showdown between UIndy and Bellarmine is scheduled for 7:45 p.m. Thursday night.  The game will be televised locally on HTSN.
