Greyhounds, Hawks battle to scoreless draw

THE FINAL WHISTLE
Final: UIndy 0 – Rockhurst 0 (2OT)
Records: UIndy 2-7-4 (1-6-4 GLVC)  | Rockhurst 5-4-5 (5-4-5 GLVC)
Location: Bourke Field – Kansas City, Mo.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The University of Indianapolis women's soccer team opened up their final road trip of the regular season on Friday night, taking on the Hawks of Rockhurst University.

The Greyhounds would fend off the swarming Rockhurst offense for most of the night and despite being outshot by more than double their attempts, the Greyhounds were able to keep the Hawks off the scoreboard and earn a scoreless draw.

GAME CHANGER
For the second consecutive match, Greyhound goalkeeper Emma Crenshaw came up big between the pipes late in double overtime, making stops on three Hawk chances in the final 10 minutes. Crenshaw finished the game with seven saves, good for her second career shutout.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
The Hawks finished the game with 23 shots to 11 for the Hounds. UIndy was led by Jocelyn Evans' three shots while Stephanie Burdsall, Lindsey Adams and Heather Roeder attempted two shots each.

UIndy's best chance of the match came late in the first overtime, but Melissa Kapsalis' strike was denied by the crossbar. It was one of five shot attempts the Greyhounds took in the first extra session.

Rockhurst's Caitlin Winschel stopped three UIndy shots to earn the clean sheet for Rockhurst. Nicole Keeve (six) and Courtney Silberberg (five) topped the Hawks in shots.

COACHES' CORNER
Head coach Holly Cox: "We were lucky to go into the half in a tie game. We struggled to get out of the blocks and get to the ball. Second half, we battled and attacked with a purpose and it completely changed the game. We created a lot more chances and that carried into overtime."

"Sometimes the final decision isn't what you want it to be, but we were a lot more dangerous once the first half was over. We changed our game plan and they really responded to it. That's something that we need to be able to bring that from the opening whistle on Sunday."

UP NEXT
UIndy will play their final road game of the regular season on Sunday afternoon, traveling to Liberty, Mo. to take on William Jewell. First whistle is set for 1:00 p.m.
