LIBERTY, Mo. – The regular season road schedule came to an end for the University of Indianapolis women's soccer team on Sunday afternoon with a 1-0 defeat at the hands of William Jewell College in GLVC play.

GAME CHANGER
William Jewell netted the game's only goal in the 32nd minute. After the two attacks went back-and-forth with several chances early in the half, the Cardinals' Jade Gifford stuck a Hayley White pass into the back of the net for her fifth tally of the year.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
The Greyhounds' attack put pressure on the Cardinals in the opening 20 minutes and generated shots on goal from Kacey Wells ('10) and Lindsey Adams ('20) that were but turned aside by William Jewell keeper Jordan Lewis.

Late in the first half, the Greyhounds were looking for the equalizer and nearly got it off the foot of Michele Govern as the freshman midfielder beat Lewis with a shot, but was unable to beat the crossbar.

After the two team combined for nine first half shots, both teams clamped down on the defensive end and limited the offenses to three combined shot attempts. William Jewell finished the game with a 7-5 advantage on the shot clock. Adams finished with two shots to lead the Greyhounds while Wells, Govern and Stephanie Burdsall had one attempt each.

UIndy's Emma Crenshaw finished with four saves in goal while the Cardinals' Lewis stopped the only two shots she faced to earn the shutout.

UP NEXT
UIndy will close out the regular season with three straight matches on their home turf, starting next Friday night with a game against Missouri S&T. Kick-off from Key Stadium is set for 5:00 p.m.
