KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The University of Indianapolis men's soccer team saw their bid to make for back-to-back GLVC Men's Soccer Tournament championships fall just short on Friday night. Following 110 scoreless minutes against third-seeded Quincy, the second seeded Greyhounds were after falling in penalty kicks, 4-1.

GAME CHANGER
Quincy goalkeeper Nate Griffin stole the show in penalty kicks, guessing right and stopping the first two Greyhound attempts while his teammates went a perfect 4-for-4 in penalty kicks to seal the win and move to the GLVC Finals for the second straight year.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
The Greyhounds controlled the shot clock through 110 minutes, outshooting the Hawks 17-7. UIndy's defense held the top scoring team in the GLVC without a shot on goal in the game while putting six shots on target.

The Greyhounds' had a quality chance to get on the board in the 53rd minute, but Zak Mitiche was unable to get a good foot on a rolling ball in close, pushing an open chance wide of the net. Mitiche nearly put the game away in the final minute of double overtime, but Quincy's Robbie Tays got a head on a shot destined for the top corner to keep the game scoreless.

Josh Ling led all attackers with five shots on the day while Mitiche's three shots on goal led all players.

Despite not facing a single shot on goal, Christopher Jones added to his program record for shutouts, picking up his 12th clean sheet of the year.

COACHES' CORNER
Head coach John Higgins: "I thought we played really well. Our guys did everything we asked them to do, we just couldn't finish. At the end of the day, you have to put your chances away. We had a period in the second half where we had all the momentum and got a couple really good chances that we just didn't capitalize on. If you don't do that, you run the risk of having a couple bounces go against you. We limited them to no chances on target for 110 minutes, but we got punished for not putting chances away."

"We have to stay positive. We feel like our resume is good to get into the NCAA Tournament. We've also played everyone in our region and we've done really well against them. So we have to keep a positive mindset and despite tonight's result, our confidence is still really high and we expect to have another chance to go out and compete this year."

UP NEXT
The Greyhounds, who are currently ranked sixth in the NCAA Midwest Regional poll, will await their NCAA Tournament fate when the field is announced for the 2015 NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Tournament on Monday night at 6:00 p.m.
