KANSAS CITY, Mo.- The UIndy men's tennis team advanced to its second Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship Tournament final match in as many years with a 5-1 win over Missouri-St. Louis in seminfinal action Saturday night.
The Greyhounds took a pair of doubles wins, with
Christoph Drechsler and
Tony Kostadinov pairing up at No. 1 to best Nils Mueggenburg and Harry Heyburn of UMSL, 8-5.
Luke Hubert and
Fausto Cordova took an 8-6 at No. 3, defeating the Tritons' Kristoffer Lindal and Irving Corrales.
UIndy's lone loss of the day came at the second doubles spot, with
Andrea Morlet and
Marco Razo falling to Tim McLarty and Alberto Maza Martin 8-6.
Wins at No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 singles closed out the Greyhound win. Hubert took a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 versus Maza Martin, while Razo defeated Dario Vidaurre 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5 and Cordova won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 6.
UIndy will face off with Drury in a rematch of last year's GLVC Championship Tournament final, which the Greyhounds lost 5-2. The match will begin at 2:00 p.m. EST.
