Foley, Russell, Williamson named All-America

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – A trio of UIndy softball student-athletes were dubbed All-America by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Wednesday night.  On the eve of the 2015 NCAA Division II Championships, the NFCA announced at its annual awards banquet that junior Morgan Foley (first team), senior Taylor Russell (second team) and senior Casey Williamson (second team) all made the coveted list.

In addition, the Daktronics, Inc./Division II Collegiate Commissioners Association All-America Softball Team was also announced Wednesday night, with Foley taking second-team accolades and Williamson garnering honorable mention.

Morgan Foley was one of only three pitchers named to the NFCA first team.  The junior hurler has amassed 438 strikeouts to date, topping all Division II hurlers.  She also ranks second in the nation in wins (38) and eighth in ERA (1.08), posting eight shutouts while holding opponents to a .150 batting average.  This marks the second straight NFCA first-team selection for Louisville, Ky., native and her third All-America nod in three seasons.

Meanwhile, designated player Taylor Russell picked up her first All-America nod.  The Greyhounds' all-time leader in home runs and RBIs ranks 10th in Division II with 64 ribbies this season.  A product of St. Charles, Ill., Russell broke the UIndy career home run mark with three-run blast versus Rockhurst at the GLVC Tournament May 2.  She enters this week's NCAA Championship with 45 career bombs, good for 12th among all active D-II hitters.

Senior Casey Williamson has appeared on an All-America release in each of her four seasons at UIndy, earning NFCA first-team laurels as a freshman and sophomore, followed by honorable mention from Daktronics last season and this year's second-team recognition.  The Indianapolis native will end her career this week as the school's career record holder in runs, hits, doubles, triples, walks, stolen bases and total bases.  She also sports the career highest batting, average, on-base percentage and slugging percentage of any Greyhound since the porgram started competing in Division II in 1984.

The UIndy threesome have helped lead the Greyhounds to their first "World Series" appearance since 2009.  They open play Thursday, May 21 versus sixth-ranked North Georgia at 3:30 p.m. ET.  The UNG roster sports a pair of NFCA First Team All-Americans in pitcher Courtney Poole and first baseman Kim McMillan.
