Softball ranked fifth in final coaches poll

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – After earning a trip to the NCAA Division II Championship last month, the UIndy softball team climbed to No. 5 in 2015's final National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division II Poll, released Tuesday.  The Greyhounds finished the season 48-15 to secure their highest-ever ranking in the season's final poll.

UIndy has appeared in the year's final top-25 poll on five occasions, each coming in the last seven seasons.  Below is the breakdown.

Meanwhile, national-champ North Georgia (54-8) garnered all 16 first-place votes to unanimously top the final NFCA poll of 2015.  National runner-up Dixie State (52-8) followed at No. 2, while national semifinalists Shorter (43-17) and California (Pa.) (43-13) came in at three and four, respectively.
 
North Georgia's only loss at the "World Series" came in a 1-0, no-hit defeat at the hands of the Greyhounds.
 
In addition, fellow GLVC-member Missouri-St. Louis (48-8) was the highest ranked of all non-region champs, ranking ninth in the Division.  Southern Indiana (39-11) earned the poll's final spot at No. 25.
