INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Lakes Valley Conference announced the recipients of its 2014-15 Team Academic Award Tuesday, with six UIndy athletic teams among the record 119 GLVC squads to maintain a 3.30 grade point average for the academic year.

The GLVC recognizes each team from member institutions that have maintained at least 3.30 GPA for the academic year. The total number of teams honored has increased each of the last four years, with this season's record sum of 119 surpassing the former conference record of 109 set in 2013-14.

The Greyhounds were topped by the national-champion women's golf team, whose 3.57 GPA was the highest of all 20 eligible UIndy squads*. They were joined by women's cross country (3.52), volleyball (3.49), women's swimming & diving (3.39), women's tennis (3.37) and women's soccer (3.36).

Overall, Maryville University led the league with 11 teams honored. The Saints were followed closely by Lewis, McKendree, Rockhurst and Saint Joseph's, who all had 10 teams on the list.

Maryville's women's cross country squad boosted the GLVC's highest team GPA during the 2014-15 academic year, compiling a lofty 3.79. SJC's men's tennis team was just behind at 3.78, followed by Drury's women's swimming and diving at 3.73.
