THE FINAL WHISTLE
Final: UIndy 0 – #16 Missouri S&T 1
Records:Â UIndy 9-5-4 | Missouri S&T 10-3-6
Location: S&T Soccer Field – Rolla, Mo.
Â
ROLLA, Mo. – Led by a stifling performance from the team's defense and a goal from an unlikely source, the #7-seeded University of Indianapolis men's soccer team advanced to the semifinals of the 2016 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Tournament with a 1-0 upset win over the second seed in the tournament and the No. 16-ranked team nationally, the Missouri S&T Miners
Â
GAME CHANGER
Sophomore
Brett Langley wound up playing the hero on Sunday when he scored the game's only goal in the 70
th minute. Langley took a feed from
Ben Rohder and let go a shot from about 25 yards out that skipped off the hands of Miner goalkeeper Aaron Hohenstein into the back of the net.
Â
It was the first goal as a Greyhound for Langley, who normally holds down one of the defensive midfield spots in UIndy's formation. Rohder notched his second assist of the year on the play.
Â
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
-The second biggest play of the game came in its final minute when Missouri S&T's Unnar Ulfarsson had his bid to tie the game turned aside by UIndy goalkeeper
Miles Palmer. The Greyhound backstop turned aside all four Miner shots on goal to improve to 7-3-4 and earn his sixth shutout of the year.
Â
-The Greyhound defense kept the Miners without a shot on goal from the 35:06 mark in the first half until Palmer's game-saving stop with 37 seconds to play. Total shot attempts were 14-11 in favor of the Miners and both sides ended with four shots on goal.

COACHES' CORNER
Head coach John Higgins: "We got a great effort from everyone today, especially in the back in the second half. They had a really good game plan for us when it came to limiting our chances. We needed to match that and we did. As this game went on, we knew it was either going to be a spectacular effort or a mistake that made the difference and we played a clean, mistake free game all day."
Â
"We got a lot of quality performances from our bench today. A lot of guys were able to come off the bench and play with intensity and they were really effective when they had a chance to get in the match."
Â
"We've got another matchup that we really like coming up in the semifinals against Southern Indiana. We were really disappointed with how the first meeting turned out when we faced the earlier this year and our guys are going to be ready to get another crack at them."
