Crume 2nd, Kieffer 7th as Hounds close out 2016 Nationals

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.- The 2015-16 wrestling season came to a close Saturday evening at the PREMIER Center, with UIndy wrestlers earning All-American places.

Nick Crume (23-7) closed out his season as the National runner-up at 133, after a 4-3 loss to Nick Roberts in the championship. The redshirt sophomore is the first Greyhound to make it to a national final since Nick Walpole won the lone UIndy wrestling national title in 2011 at 149. The Jimtown, Ind.-native earned his trip to the final after taking a 7-5 win over Blake Bosch of Minnesota Moorhead in the semifinal round.

At 125, redshirt senior Josh Kieffer (26-6) opened his day with a close 12-11 loss to Western State's Ronald Wardleigh, putting him in the seventh place match. The four-time National Qualifier closed out his career with a 10-4 win over Trung Duong of Newberry to take seventh at 125.

As a team, the Greyhounds finished 13th with 22.0 team points. The 2016 team title was claimed by St. Cloud State with 90.0 points, followed by Notre Dame (Ohio) with 82.0 team points. Nebraska-Kearney (78.5) and Pitt.-Johnstown (71.5) rounded out the top five teams.
