UIndy claims fifth consecutive GLVC All-Sports Trophy

INDIANAPOLIS – For the first time in 26 years, the Great Lakes Valley Conference has a five-peat champion of its traveling All-Sports Trophy. The University of Indianapolis totaled a conference-record 203 points to capture the coveted title for the fifth consecutive year and eighth time overall. The trophy is presented annually to the institution that demonstrates the best all-around performance in the league's 20 sponsored sports. Points are allocated based on overall finish in the league standings and at the respective sport's conference tournament.

UIndy won five league titles over the course of the academic year, including baseball, football, women's golf, softball and men's tennis. The Greyhounds also posted runner-up finishes in men's golf, volleyball, men's indoor and outdoor track & field and women's indoor track & field, and garnered third-place points in men's and women's swimming & diving, men's soccer and women's outdoor track & field.

The Crimson and Grey topped second-place Lewis for the third straight season, scoring 203 points to the Flyers' 171.5. Not only did UIndy's point total establish a new GLVC record, but the subsequent 31.5-point gap between first and second set a new conference mark for largest margin of victory in the 38-year history of the award.

In addition to earning the trophy the last five years, the Greyhounds also won the inaugural honor in 1978-79, as well as in 1994-95 and 2002-03. The title marks the first five-peat champion since Lewis won a league-record seven in a row from 1984 to 1990.

Seven different schools have claimed the GLVC All-Sports Trophy through the years, with only Lewis (13), UIndy (8), Southern Indiana (4), Bellarmine (3), Drury (1) as current members.
