Foley dubbed CoSIDA Academic All-America®

AUSTIN, Texas – UIndy senior Morgan Foley added to an already impressive list of accolades Wednesday, as the Greyhound pitching ace was named to the 2016 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America® Division II Softball Second Team. Voted on by the nation's DII CoSIDA members, the prestigious award is released annually to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

A four-time All-American and 2016 Midwest Region Pitcher of the Year, Foley earned a Communications degree from UIndy earler this month, while sporting a 3.53 GPA at the time of voting. It marks the first career Academic All-America® nod for the Louisville, Ky., native. She has previously garnered Academic All-GLVC honors as well as NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete recognition.

On the field, Foley led all of Division II in both strikeouts per seven innings (12.8) and hits allowed per seven innings (3.2), while also ranking third in wins (40) and seventh in ERA (0.85). She recently broke her own school record for strikeouts in a season, while her career strikeout total of 1,659 is good for second in the all-time DII annals.

The Division II Academic All-America® program is financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structures, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2015-16 DII and DIII Academic All-America® teams program.
