INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Lakes Valley Conference announced the recipients of its 2015-16 Team Academic Award Tuesday, with nine UIndy athletic squads among the record 137 GLVC squads honored.

The GLVC recognizes each team from member institutions that have maintained at least 3.30 GPA for the academic year. The total number of teams honored has increased each of the last five years, with this season's record sum surpassing the former conference benchmark of 119 set in 2014-15.

The Greyhounds were topped by the national runner-up women's golf team, whose 3.70 GPA was the highest of all 20 eligible UIndy squads*. They were joined by women's cross country (3.65), women's tennis (3.53), volleyball (3.53), men's cross country (3.42), men's golf (3.35), women's soccer (3.35), men's tennis (3.33) and softball (3.33).

Overall, Lewis University led the league with 13 teams honored. The Flyers were followed by Bellarmine, Rockhurst and Truman State with 11, and Drury, Maryville and McKendree with 10.

Meanwhile, Saint Joseph's men's tennis program boasted the GLVC's highest team GPA during the 2015-16 academic year, compiling a lofty 3.84.
