ROLLA, Mo. – The University of Indianapolis women's soccer team was looking to make it a 2-0 start in GLVC play on Sunday afternoon against Missouri S&T in the final match of a four-game road trip.
Â
Down by a pair of goals at the half, the Hounds clawed their way back to tie things up with a little more than 20 minutes to play. UIndy had a chance to win it late in regulation but couldn't find the back of the net. The Miners would make the missed opportunity hurt in overtime, scoring with just over four minutes left to earn a 3-2 win.
Â
GAME CHANGER
The deciding goal came at the 95:03 mark when Missouri S&T's Leah Camery found herself wide open on the back post when Carli Tastad found her with a crossing pass for the tap-in goal and win for the host side.
Â
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
The Greyhounds held an 8-7 edge in shots in the opening half, but were unable to put any of their attempts on net in the opening 45 minutes. Final shot count was 15-14 in favor of the Miners.
Â
Kacey Wells got the Greyhounds on the board in the 56
th minute after taking a through pass from
Stephanie Burdsall and firing her third goal of the year home from 10 yards out. The goal moves Wells into second on the Hounds with eight points (3G, 2A)
Â
The Greyhounds continued to apply pressure following the goal and drew even when
Sam Enloe got in behind the Miner defense and chipped a Burdsall pass over S&T keeper Karen Nightingale for her second tally of the year. The assist also gives Burdsall 11 points (4G, 3A) on the year, surpassing her 2015 total.
Â
Bursdall had a chance to put the Greyhounds in front with less than a minute to play in regulation, but her try from in close was turned aside by Nightingale with 40 seconds to play. Both Nightingale and UIndy goalkeeper
Emma Crenshaw would finish the match with three saves.

COACHES' CORNER
Head Coach
Holly Cox: "It was very good to see our team battle back, but at the same time we dug ourselves into a hole in the first half. We didn't really seem ready to play in the first half but you have to give our kids credit for fighting back. We had a chance to put the game away in the second half but the ball didn't find its way into the net. Once we got into overtime, that missed chance came back to bite us."
Â
"It was a great learning experience for this group. We got to play in a game that went into overtime where one shot can decide a match. We'll take this learning experience with us going forward and get ready for Friday's match.
Â
"We're ready to play in front of our home fans and get a week where we don't have to focus on traveling.
We're going to make the most of our time on the practice field this week and we'll be ready to go on Frdiay."
