INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy women's basketball team was picked to finish fourth in the East Division this season according to the GLVC Women's Basketball Preseason Poll, released Wednesday. The annual poll was voted on by the league coaches and ranks the top-five teams in each of the conference's divisions.

The GLVC regular season will feature a newly-adopted three-division format with the familiar East and West Divisions, along with the additional the Central Division. The top-eight teams with the most points derived from the new GLVC Point Rating System at the end of the regular season will earn a berth to the GLVC Basketball Championship Tournament on March 1-4 at the Vadalabene Center in Edwardsville, Ill., on the campus of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

Four of the five teams in the loaded East earned at least two first-place votes. Defending-division-champ Southern Indiana garnered five first-place nods and 54 points to take the top spot, followed by Lewis, Bellarmine, UIndy and Wisconsin-Parkside. Just six points separated the top four teams, with fifth-place Parkside ineligible for the divisional title and GLVC Tournament due to conference sanctions.

Reigning-GLVC-champion Drury topped the West Division, and Maryville led the Central. See below for the complete coaches poll.

Meanwhile, the Greyhounds kick off the 2017-18 season with an exhibition game at Wright State tonight.
