ST. LOUIS – UIndy men's tennis defeated Quincy in the first round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship Tournament first round for the third season in a row, vanquishing the Hawks 5-0 in Saturday's quarterfinal match at the Forest Lake Tennis Club in Chesterfield, Mo.
It's the fifth consecutive appearance in the GLVC semifinals for the 16th-ranked Greyhounds, who improve to 13-4. The Hawks finish their season 3-14 overall.
Junior
Christoph Drechsler and sophomore
Magnus Mueller took down Quincy's Wyatt Pauley and Danyil Vayser at No. 2, 8-1, improving to 11-5 as a duo and giving UIndy its first point.
At No. 1 doubles, UIndy's
Arklon Huertas del Pino and
Andrea Morlet followed with a close 8-6 win against Collin Adams and Erik Eldagsen, winning their 19th match as a pair this season.

Marco Razo won their team-best seventh match in a row at No. 3 doubles, 8-3 over the Hawks' Ryan McMillan and Michael Lesko.
The 2017 GLVC Player of the Year, Huertas del Pino, opened singles action with a 6-0, 6-1 straight-set win against Eldagsen in No. 1, improving to 20-1 overall.
UIndy had a set in hand in singles Nos. 2, 3 and 4, but it was All-GLVC selection Hoffacker that clinched the Hounds' win with a 6-0, 6-0 decision over Vayser in No. 2, good for his team-best 21st singles victory.
The Hounds have a quick turnaround before returning to action, facing Rockhurst Sunday at 1 p.m. ET at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center.
