In the final team standings, the UIndy men's 10 points – most since 2014 – was good for a share of 24th place, while the women tied for 62nd on the strength of Mendivil's All-America performance in the discus.
FRIDAY
The UIndy track and field team secured a pair of top-eight finishes at the 2017 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships Friday. After teammate
Josh Bass placed fifth in the long jump yesterday, senior
Lissette Mendivil and redshirt-sophomore
Austin Hogan also earned All-America status in the discus throw. The championships, held at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., will run through Saturday.
Â
Both Mendivil and Hogan garnered their second All-America nod in the event. Hogan notched the highest finish in the men's discus since Brian Evans won the national championship in 1995. The latter's 55.14-meter toss earned third place in this year's Division II finals.
Â
Mendivil, meanwhile, bookended her career with a seventh-place throw of 50.35 meters. The season-best heave supplements a runner-up finish in the 2014 nationals.
Â
Katie Monk, who finished 16th in the hammer throw yesterday, took 14th place in the discus with a toss of 45.96 meters.
Â
Finally, junior
Treyvon Matthews raced in the prelims of 110-meter hurdles and just missed a spot in the finals. His time of 14.18 was good for fourth in his heat and ninth overall. It also snapped one of hte oldest records in the UIndy annals, besting the former school mark of 14.24 seconds, set by Chris Green in 1986.
Â
The championships conclude tomorrow with three more Greyhounds in action. Monk and senior
Miranda Braun will take to the shot put circle at 1:15 p.m., followed by Hogan in the men's shot put at 5:05 p.m. Follow live results

THURSDAY
The 2017 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships kicked off Thursday. The day was highlighted by senior
Josh Bass and his All-America leap in the long jump. The championships, held at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., will run through Saturday.
Â
Bass used an outdoor PR of 7.57 meters to earn fifth place among the nation's best long jumpers. The result was the third career All-America First Team honor for the Springfield, Ohio native. He placed third in the long jump in both the indoor and outdoor championships in 2014.
Â
Three more Hounds were in action on day one, as
Katie Monk,
Austin Hogan and
Vincent Ziraldo all competed in the hammer throw, with all three placing outside the top eight. Monk placed 16th on the women's side with a toss of 53.46 meters. Hogan (55.29m) finished 17th amongst the men, and Ziraldo, who came in as the 11th seed, was unable to manage a legal throw.
