KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The UIndy women's basketball team (5-10, 2-3 GLVC) won its second conference game in a row with a 66-64 victory at Rockhurst University (6-7, 2-3) Saturday afternoon. The Greyhounds overcame a six-point deficit in the fourth quarter to earn the comeback win.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
Though they trailed for a majority of the afternoon, the Hounds did their best work in the fourth quarter, scoring 20 points in the final 10 minutes. Trailing 52-46 early in the fourth, UIndy blitzed the host Hawks with a 6-0 mini run to tie it up. The Greyhounds took their first lead since the first quarter on a corner 3 from
Taylor Drury with 3:20 left.
Â
UIndy would go on to twice lead by as much as four down the stretch, but the Hawks had a chance at the end of the game. After junior
Alexa Bailey hit 1 of 2 free throws to make it 66-64, Rockhurst had one final possession with 11.4 seconds on the clock. The Greyhound defense held, however, as Rockhurst's last-second 3-ball was off the mark, sealing a perfect 2-0 week for the Hounds.

HOUND BYTES
Head Coach Kristin Wodrich on starting the New Year with two wins…
"It's been great for our kids. We've had some up and downs, but they've really played hard and been focused the past two weeks, so it's been really good to see them execute and get a good response from it."
Â
Wodrich on the Hounds' fourth quarter performance…
"We played down the whole game, and I thought our kids' resiliency was really good today. We got rebounds down the stretch when we needed to and we got the ball to the people we needed to when it mattered. So I'm just really proud of them and their effort tonight, and we had some people step up so that was big for us."
Â
Wodrich on takeaways for the rest of the season…
"I think the biggest thing is that more people are contributing. You had freshman
Taylor Drury today with 18 points and five rebounds; that's huge. Devin had double figures again, so just being able to have more people step up has been really big for us, and everybody – one through nine – contributed today, and I think that's huge for our team when everybody contributes.I'm just really proud of the whole team."
