SPRINGFILED, Mo. – The No. 12 UIndy men's tennis team won its third-straight GLVC Championship Tournament on Sunday afternoon, defeating No. 21 Drury, 5-1, in the final. It is the second-straight season the Greyhounds won the conference title against the Panthers, each time the two teams being the top seed in their respective division.

Despite the final match score, it was a thrilling win for UIndy. Each doubles contest was decided by a 9-8 final, with the Greyhounds winning two of the three.

In the No. 3 slot,
Nils Hoffacker and
Dario Huber finished first among doubles, winning the first tiebreaker before No. 1 tandem and 22nd-ranked
Renato Lima and
Andrea Morlet dropped the heartbreaker to even the score.
Christoph Drechsler and
Magnus Mueller broke the tie at No. 2 doubles, winning the tiebreaker to give the Hounds a 2-1 advantage heading into singles play.

It was the top-three that determined the final score, as Huber kicked off singles with a convincing 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 3. Hoffacker, ranked 44th in singles, edged out his counterpart at No. 1 in the first set, 7-6, before earning the victory, 6-2, in the final frame.

Lima clinched the win for the Greyhounds at No. 2, needing three sets to seal with conference title. The first two sets had a final score of 7-6, before the GLVC Freshman of the Year won the final set, 6-2. The rookie dropped the first set before winning the final two.

As a result of the conference championship, head coach
Malik Tabet earned GLVC Coach of the Year honors on the men's side. It is third-straight accolade for the men, and fourth overall. Tabet has won six conference coach of year awards during his time at UIndy, with two coming on the women's side.

The Greyhounds were ranked atop the latest Midwest regional poll, and look to host week's NCAA tournament contests. The selection show will be held this Tuesday night on NCAA.com.
