INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy softball team (35-15, 17-9 GLVC) split a doubleheader with the visiting Missouri S&T Lady Miners (24-24, 13-13) Saturday afternoon at Baumgartner Field. Between the games, UIndy welcomed back a number of former players as part of its annual Alumni Day.

GAME 1 | UIndy 11, S&T 1 (5 inn.)
The Hound delivered one of their best offensive performances in the opener. The home team jumped on the Miners for three runs in both the first and second innings before delivering the knockdown blown with a five spot in the fourth. As a team, the Greyhounds racked up 10 hits on the way to reaching their highest run total since March 12.

The second frame included an RBI triple from freshman
Brooke Montgomery and a solo homer from junior
Taylor Podschweit. Later, the fourth inning saw all nine Greyhounds step to the plate, with freshman
Gianni Iannantone's two-run single fueling the rally.

Montgomery finished 3 for 3 at the dish with two runs and an RBI. Podschweit scored three times, while freshman
Sydnie Foster had a pair of singles and two runs.

Sophomore
Lauren Honkomp (15-7) got the win in the circle. She allowed just one run and two hits in the five-inning complete game, striking out six and walking two.

GAME 2 | S&T 7, UIndy 2
Runs were harder to come by in the second game. UIndy amassed six hits and five walks off S&T starter Kati Viets (8-11) but could only push across two runs; Podschweit scored Foster with a sac fly in the third, and Montgomery drove in senior
Jessie Noone in the fourth.

S&T got to freshman starter Halie Waters (8-6) with three runs in the second inning and three more in the fifth. Sophomore Olivia Young had the biggest hit for the Miners with a bases-loaded triple in the second.

Montgomery added two more singles and a walk in game two to finish the day with five hits.
