Baumgartner Field was constructed in 2011-12 to give the Greyhound softball team an on-campus venue. The facility is named after Mary "Wimp" Baumgartner, who played in the All-American Girl's Professional Baseball League during the late 1940s. Baumgartner was a long-time coach and teacher in the public school system, and was a charter member of the Indiana High School Athletic Association's first board for women.

The Greyhound softball facility features a 190' fence with a scoreboard over right center field. A two-story press box building stands directly behind homeplate.

The new Baumgartner Field is the second of the same name on the UIndy campus, as the former home of the Greyhounds was also named for the AAGPL star. The previous Baumgartner Field was located where East Hall now stands.
