On tap: UIndy will look to make it two in a row as it hosts Michigan Tech Saturday at Key Stadium. The Huskies make the long trek to Indy owners of a 1-5 record after a tough 14-5 loss to Findlay last week. Conversely, the Hounds dominated Ferris State, 34-7 to garner their second win of the season.
Series history: MTU owns an 8-5 lead in the all-time series. The Huskies escaped with a 31-28 win in Houghton, Mich. last season, garnering a sack on the final play with the Hounds driving. Eight of the 13 meetings have gone to the home team, including each of the last four.
About Michigan Tech: The Huskies have just one win in a season that was marked with high expectations. Picked third in the GLIAC Preseason Coaches Poll, MTU has battled injuries, losing starting tailback Phil Milbrath for three games and quarterback Steve Short out since the first quarter of the third game. The Huskies' lone win was a 38-6 win over Ferris State two weeks ago.
About MTU Head Coach Tom Kearly: Kearly is in his fourth season at the helm of the Huskies program, compiling a 21-17 record in that span. He was an associate head coach and offensive coordinator previously, coming aboard at MTU in 2000.
About UIndy Head Coach Joe Polizzi: Polizzi, now in his 16th season, is 82-87-1 in his tenure at UIndy. Polizzi has collected eight winning seasons in that time, including three of the last four.
Regional Rankings: The second edition of the NCAA Super Regional 3 rankings were released Monday, and UIndy has the distinction of playing four of those teams. Five GLIAC teams are ranked, including: Saginaw Valley State (5), Wayne State (6), Findlay (7), Hillsdale (8) and Grand Valley State (9). Minnesota State, Mankato continues to top the rankings with the lone undefeated mark (7-0) in the region.
National Rankings: Several Greyhounds find themselves in the national rankings through seven weeks. Ryan Forney is the second-leading punt returner in D-II, averaging 20.0 yards per return. As a team, UIndy ranks 3rd in D-II in that category. Rob Doyle is 49th in passing efficiency (132.74), Craig Ray is tied for 56th in total tackles per game (8.7) and Erick Kumming ranks 50th in the country with a 38.06 yards per punt average.
Top Dog Goff: Senior defensive lineman Danny Goff likes Top Taggart Field. In two career games there, Goff has 5.0 tackles for loss and 4.0 sacks. As a freshman, Goff had a pair of sacks in a 7-3 UIndy win. Saturday, the co-captain had 3.0 TFL and posted another pair of sacks to help the Hounds grab a convincing 34-7 victory.
Eight is Enough: Mar'Quone Edmonds caught a pair of touchdowns Saturday in the win at Ferris State. On both occasions, Edmonds hauled-in passes in the corner of the endzone, the second helping UIndy mount a 27-0 advantage early in the third quarter. Edmonds has three receiving TDs on the season, tops on the team.
Bourne, Again: Freshman Patrick Bourne had a career day Saturday at Ferris State. The freshman had 18 carries for 127 yards and his first two rushing scores of the season. Bourne has garnered carries in two games this season, both UIndy wins (vs. KWC, at FSU).
FSU Firsts: The blowout last week provided an opportunity for some firsts, both on the season and career firsts as well. A look below at some statistical firsts that happened in that game:

Patrick Bourne Career TD (2), 100+ yard rushing game
Josh Martin Career INT
Ben Buhler Career sack
