Dury named to Cactus Bowl roster

KINGSVILLE, Texas-  Senior center Tim Dury has been invited to participate in the 2010 Valero Cactus Bowl, set for Jan. 8 at Texas A&M-Kingsville's Javelina Stadium.  Dury becomes the fourth Greyhound to play in the event and first since 2003.

The Valero Cactus Bowl is an NCAA Division II all-star football game in its 16th year.  Played in an East vs. West format, the teams are comprised solely of the best Division II seniors at their position, nominated by coaches at their institutions.

Dury  was an All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference First Teamer as the key component of the UIndy offensive line.  The co-captain was also dubbed the UIndy "Most Valuable Offensive Player of the Year" after starting all 11 contests in his final campaign.  He was named the team's Offensive Lineman of the Year in both 2008 and 2009.

The Cactus Bowl is in its seventh year after transitioning from the inaugural "Snow Bowl" which began in 1994 in Fargo, N.D.

Dury joins three other former Greyhounds to play in the event.  Kevin Kreinhagen, a quarterback, played in the 1998 Snow Bowl while linebacker Josh Gentry was named the Snow Bowl's Defensive MVP the following year.  Wideout Cesare Manning is the lone other UIndy player to participate in the all-star game since its move to Kingsville (2003).
