BAY CITY, Mich.- Twenty-two athletes from the University of Indianapolis earned Academic All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference accolades when the league released the teams Friday. To qualify for the team, a student-athlete must maintain a 3.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and cannot be a freshman or a first-year transfer.
The UIndy list includes nine athletes from both the senior and sophomore classes with four more from the junior ranking. Six Greyhounds are among the Academic All-GLIAC honorees after earning all-league accolades on the field as well. Senior
Tim Dury, UIndy's Offensive Lineman of the Year and 2010 Cactus Bowl participant, finished his career with three Academic All-GLIAC honors and was a First Team All-GLIAC selection. Fellow first-teamer
Craig Ray grabbed his second All-Academic GLIAC honor and was voted the team's Defensive Back of the Year this past season. Sophomore
Mike Dum, the squad's Linebacker of the Year, was a Second Team All-GLIAC winner and picked-up his first academic award in his first year of eligibility.
Three athletes were named to the All-GLIAC Honorable Mention Team in November and followed it up with All-Academic awards:
Ryan Forney,
Stephen Geller and
Adam Prichard.
The entire list of athletes from all GLIAC-member schools can be found on the
league's official website.
UIndy has increased its numbers of All-Academic GLIAC football winners in each of the last four seasons.
