WINONA, Minn.- UIndy's
Craig Ray and
Randall Courtney were each named to the third team defense of the
Don Hansen's Gazette NCAA Division II All-Super Region Three Team announced this week. The pair led a Greyhound defense that topped the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in total defense in 2009.
Courtney, a third team defensive end, was also named a First Team All-GLIAC member, his first top billing and the third all-league accolade of his career. Courtney finished the season leading the team in tackles for loss (11.0) and sacks (5.5). For his career, Courtney amassed 29.5 tackles for loss, seventh-most in school history. His career sack total (13.0) also ranks among the leaders (T13th). The Indianapolis, Ind. native was an All-GLIAC Second Team member in each of the past two seasons.
Ray, a third team safety, polished-off a solid junior season with 81 tackles, second-most on the team. The safety from Plainfield, Ind. solidifed a stingy defense that allowed the fewest passing yards and total yards per game in the GLIAC. He was a second-team all-conference pick last year.
This marks the eighth year
Football Gazette has selected Division II all-region teams. The national publication, an authority on small college football, has selected Division II All-America teams since 1998.
