All-conference list peppered with Greyhounds

Senior receiver Mar'Quone Edmonds was named 2012 GLVC Offensive Player of theYear.
INDIANAPOLIS – Fourteen Greyhounds appeared on the All-Great Lakes Valley Conference football team, as voted on by league coaches and released Wednesday.  Three Hounds picked up major year-end awards, as Mar'quone Edmonds was named the GLVC Offensive Player of the Year, Scott Miller was the Special Teams Player of the Year and Bob Bartolomeo the Coach of the Year.

In his third year as the UIndy head man, Coach Bartolomeo guided the Hounds to their first-ever nine-win season and first-ever NCAA Division II playoff berth.  His Greyhounds compiled a spotless 8-0 record in conference play this season on the way the taking the 2012 GLVC title.

Go-to-Greyhound Mar'quone Edmonds broke nearly every UIndy receiving record in this, his final collegiate season.  The 6-2, 211-pound wideout amassed 89 catches for 1,250 yards and 17 touchdowns in the regular season, all good for single-season school records.  He will also finish his time on campus as the program's career leader in those same statistical categories.

Second-year kicker Scott Miller also etched his name in the UIndy annals.  A year after tying the school record for field goals in a season, the Cathedral High School grad set a new program mark for extra-points made this year.  Miller connected on 10-of-11 (.909) field goal attempts in the regular season, including a season-long 42-yard try in the Hounds' GLVC title-clinching win at Urbana last Saturday.

UIndy accounted for a league-high 13 first-team spots.  Three of the five unanimous selections were Greyhounds, as Edmonds, running back Klay Fiechter and linebacker Max Davis were all undisputed honorees.  They were joined on the first team by Miller, quarterback Chris Mills, defensive linemen Jovone Jordan and Vince Maida, linebacker Tyler Peterman, and defensive back John Strickland.

UIndy also commandeered four of the six offensive linemen spots on the first team.  Andrew Mansaray, Hunter Mason, Kevin McKenna and Austin Vogt were part of a unit that finished the regular season ranked second in the nation in fewest sacks allowed, while also helping Fiechter break the school's single-seaosn rushing record.

Sophomore safety and Fishers High Scool product Koby Orris garnered All-GLVC Second Team honors as the only Greyhound on the second team or honorable mention list.
