WACO, Texas – The UIndy football team garnered some national attention Monday, as the Greyhounds were among those receiving votes in the 2012 American Football Coaches Association Preseason Division II Coaches' Poll.  UIndy collected 70 points in the year's initial poll, good for 32nd among the country's NCAA Division II teams.

Defending-national-champion Pittsburg State took the top spot, while GLIAC-rivals Wayne State (fifth), Grand Valley State (seventh) and Hillsdale (17th) all ranked in the top 20.  Two of UIndy's 2012 opponents also picked up votes, including week-10-adversary Delta State (14th) and season-opening-foe Ashland (RV).

The AFCA's announcement came shortly after the release of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, a list  UIndy topped by taking eight of nine first-place votes*.  The Hounds, who went 7-4 last season, were the only GLVC squad to appear in the national preseason list.  Click here for more information on the 2012 UIndy football team.
