INDIANAPOLIS - The 2013 Greyhound football team held its annual year-end awards banquet on campus Sunday afternoon.  Head Coach Bob Bartolomeo played Master of Ceremonies for the more than 300 people in attendance.  The fourth-year head man took the opportunity to thank his support staff, as well as recognize his 16 seniors – all of which got their turn at the podium.

In addition, special positional awards were presented to players by their respective position coach, along with the William A. Bright Most Valuable Player Awards and the Kelso M. Reid Mental Attitude Award.

The team's MVPs went to senior Klay Fiechter, senior Todd Hacker, and juniors Scott Miller and Matt Ripp.  Fiechter was voted by his teammates as the offensive MVP, while Hacker secured the defensive equivalent and Miller and Ripp shared the special teams nod.

A two-time Academic All-American, Klay Fiechter finished his collegiate career with 3,809 rushing yards and 46 touchdowns, both good for UIndy records.  He was dubbed the GLVC's Offensive Player of the Year and Special Teams of the Year, and also picked up All-Super Region Four Second Team laurels for his return work.

Also an all-region second-team honoree, Todd Hacker excelled at both the middle and weak-side linebacker spots for the Hounds.  He led the team with 95 tackles while chipping in 8.5 tackles for a loss, two interceptions and a forced fumble.

Scott Miller was named first team all-conference at kicker and second team all-league at punter.  With one more year of eligibility remaining, the Cathedral High School grad is already the school's all-time leader in extra points (143).  He will enter his senior season as UIndy's career leader in field goal percentage (.766)

Although he was more widely known as key component of the team's rushing attack, Matt Ripp also excelled as a member of the Hounds' special teams unit, compiling nine total tackles and averaging 17 yards on five kickoff returns.  The Hamilton Southeastern product also gained 374 yards on 58 rushing attempts, while his career rushing averaging of 6.1 yards per carry is good for third in the UIndy annals.

Meanwhile, senior Vince Maida received the team's Mental Attitude Award.  The team captain and four-year starter racked up a career-high 7.5 sacks and 10.5 tackles for a loss this season and was named First Team All-GLVC for the second consecutive year.
