UIndy creeps to #4 in coaches poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Winners of nine straight, the UIndy men's basketball team (21-2, 13-2 GLVC) inched up one spot to No. 4 in the latest NABC/Division II Top 25 Poll, reaching their highest position since being voted No. 3 in the final poll of 1996-97.

UIndy's highest-ever ranking came Jan. 28, 1997, when the Hounds spend their one and only week as the No. 1 team in the country.  After that season, UIndy did not reach the top five again until Jan. 15 of last year.

The Greyhounds have been ranked in the top 25 for a program-record-tying 10 consecutive weeks, including the last four in the top 10.  Joining them in the rankings are fellow-GLVC-members Drury (No. 2), Southern Indiana (20) Wisconsin-Parkside (23), and Lewis (25).  The GLVC's five ranked teams are the most for any Division II conference.

In addition, UIndy is one of just four D-II schools -- three of which are in the GLVC -- with both its men's and women's teams ranked in their respective coackes' polls.  The Greyhound women are ranked 23rd.

With just three games remaining in the 2013-14 regular season, UIndy hosts a pair of GLVC East powers this week, starting with No. 20 Southern Indiana Thursday night at 7:45 p.m. ET.
