INDIANAPOLIS - The University of Indianapolis men's soccer team won their quarterfinal game against the Bellarmine Knights on Sunday, 2-1.
James Jenkins returned from injury to give the Hounds the early lead in the 11th minute off an assist from
Benjamin Sierra. The Knights responded, though, as Mitch Lammert fired a sparkling volley from 30 yards out in the 29th minute to tie the match going in to halftime.
The Hounds retook the lead in the 66th minute, as Jenkins grabbed his second goal with an assist from
Javier Steinwascher to put the Hounds ahead for good.
The Knights took 20 shots and put seven on frame, but
Miles Palmer's six saves helped give the Hounds the victory. Five of the Greyhounds' 11 shots were on target.
The Knights took 11 corner kicks in the match, but did not score off of any of them.
Mase Koki was booked for the Hounds. Four Knights also received bookings in the game.
With the win, the Hounds will advance to the semifinals of the conference tournament to play Missouri S&T, which will be played in downtown Indianapolis on Friday. Time will be determined at a later time.
