INDIANAPOLIS – UIndy student-athlete
Martha Burse was voted the GLVC Women's Basketball Player of the Week, announced by league officials Monday. The senior guard racked up a career-high 34 points in last Thursday's 75-64 win versus NAIA-No. 15 Indiana Wesleyan.
Â
Not only was her point total good for a personal best, it represented the highest for any Greyhound since Kristin Turner's 36-point output at Northern Kentucky in February of 2012. A native Kankakee, Ill., Burse finished 14 for 26 from the floor while adding a team-high six rebounds and a whopping seven steals.
Â
The announcement marked the first career GLVC Player of Week nod for Burse and first for UIndy this season. The last Greyhound to garner a weekly award from the league was
Sydney Brackemyre in November of 2016.
Â
Burse currently leads all of Division II in steals (42) and ranks 10th in the nation in scoring (22.7 ppg). She and her teammates take on
No. 1 Ashland tonight at 5:30 p.m.
