INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy women's basketball team (3-10) closed the calendar year with a 62-57 loss to in-region Purdue Northwest at Nicoson Hall Saturday afternoon. The Greyhounds shot just 29 percent in the second half while the visiting Pride (2-8) held off a late UIndy charge to secure the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
UIndy hit nearly 53 percent of its first half field goal attempts but struggled offensively after the break. The Hounds were limited to just five points on 2-of-15 shooting in the third quarter, matching its lowest single-period output of the year.
Â
Down by 10 with just 24 seconds to go, the Hounds made a furious push to make it a one-possession game in the waning seconds. Sophomore
Claire Carlton drained a pair of triples in surge to help pull UIndy to within three before the Pride hit two late free throws to ice it.
Â
Senior
Martha Burse had another stellar game statistically. The senior from Kanakee, Ill., knocked on the door of a triple-double, compiling a game-high 26 points, nine rebounds, seven steals and five assists. Carlton added 15 points and five boards.
