The mission of the athletic training program is to provide high quality comprehensive sports medicine care for all sports-related injuries and illnesses. The athletic training program is comprised of the team physician and the athletic trainer. To meet the health needs of the student-athlete, the athletic training program is complemented by local hospital-based physicians in all specialties around the Indianapolis area. UIndy is notably proud of the relationship enjoyed with Methodist Sports Medicine Center and physicians Dr. Mark Ritter and Dr. Thurman Alvey.

The University of Indianapolis maintains two fine athletic training room to meet the student-athletes’ needs. One athletic training room is located in the lower level of the Ruth Lilly Center and the other is located in the HH Gregg Athletics Hall, which is connected to the Athletics and Recreation Center.

The Greyhound athletic training rooms contain state of the art equipment specifically for the treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. All evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries are performed under the supervision of the full-time certified athletic trainers.
