UIndy alumnus Brad Robinson enters his second season as the Director of Track and Field/ Cross Country.
Robinson was officially the named the Director of Track & Field/Cross Country in the spring of 2024 after holding the position in an interim capacity starting in the fall od '23.
A two-time USTFCCCA Midwest Region Women's Indoor Assistant Coach of the Year, Robinson has enjoyed a very successful stint on the Greyhound coaching staff. He led the 2018 women's cross country team to its first GLVC championship in 26 years on the way to earning GLVC Coach of the Year accolades.
Robinson recently mentored two of the most decorated student-athletes in school history in Lauren Bailey and Bernice Cleyet-Merle. The 2022 USTFCCCA DII Women’s Track Athlete of the Year, Cleyet-Merle captured indoor individual national titles in the 800 meter (2021) and the mile (2022), while Bailey secured the 2021 DII championship in the 5K after winning the 2020 GLVC cross country crown and earning the program’s first-ever All-America nod in cross country.
All told, Robinson has coached UIndy men’s and women’s cross country student-athletes to 23 All-GLVC selections and five all-region performances.
As a student-athlete himself, Robinson began his collegiate running career at The Ohio State University, before ultimately transferring to UIndy. The former Greyhound team captain and Kelso Reid Mental Attitude Award recipient graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Education in December of 2008. Brad was also an All-GLVC honoree in both cross country and track during his time as a Hound.
Upon graduation, Robinson remained in the Circle City, volunteering as an assistant cross country and track coach at nearby Franklin Central High School. During his three years at Franklin Central, the school’s cross country program was consistently ranked in the top 20 of Indiana. He helped guide seven All-State runners including one school record.
Robinson returned to his alma mater prior to the 2011 season, joining the UIndy program as a Graduate Assistant for the cross country and track teams. He completed his MBA with a concentration in Organizational Leadership from UIndy in May of ’14 before earning the fulltime assistant gig. He was promoted to Cross Country Head Coach in 2016 and then Interim Director of Track and Cross Country in ’23.
