Hounds finish regular season with 18-10 win at Concordia-St. Paul

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Another slow start failed to deter the No. 12 UIndy women's lacrosse team on Sunday afternoon, which ended its regular season with a 18-10 win at GLIAC-rival Concordia-St. Paul. The Greyhounds will enter the conference tournament next weekend in Allendale, Mich. with a 14-3 overall record and 10-2 mark in the GLIAC.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Two quick goals by the Golden Bears was enough before Anna Rulapaugh put the Hounds on the scoreboard with a goal 11 minutes into the game. Cara Brown scored one of her own just 17 seconds later to tie the game.

After CSP responded and took the lead back, Grace Gunneson sparked a 6-0 Greyhound run in a seven-minute stretch to hold a healthy advantage before halftime. Abigail Lagos scored three during that stretch, while Delaney Davidson and Rulapaugh chipped in on the effort.

The Golden Bears would not go away on their senior day, scoring three unanswered to head into the break trailing 8-6.

The Hounds put an end to any hope the Golden Bears had entering the second half, outscoring the hosts 10-4 after the intermission, including the first five of the half.

Davidson and Gunneson bookended the 5-0 run, as Lauryn Hardoy also scored twice during the stretch. Lagos scored three more times in the second half to give her six goals in consecutive games.

Lauren Granville and Irene Carlquist split goalkeeping duties, combining for nine saves.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
The win marks the most victories in a season by the Greyhounds, surpassing 2017's total of 13. UIndy will have at least one more opportunity to expand on the win total this season when it begins conference tournament action next weekend at Grand Valley State.

Davidson and Hardoy each scored times on Sunday, giving them both 50-goal seasons, the first time in the program's three seasons that two players have surpassed that mark. Lagos' six jumped her regular-season mark to 40.

Hardoy dished out three assists in the win, finishing the regular season 27 and a team-high 77 points. Davidson, who had six helpers this season, is second on the team with 58 points, while Destinie Katz finishes with 47. Katz, who has played in just 11 games this season, led the team with 38 assists.

Rulapaugh, who surpassed the 100-goal plateau in her UIndy career on Friday night, tied the all-time record on Sunday with her 104th score in her three seasons. The senior already surpassed the all-time point total earlier this season, and has expanded on her program-best mark in the assist column.

Riley McClure picked up two more ground balls in the win, giving her 43 on the season, expanding on her program record. The sophomore will cement her place in the UIndy record books by season's end with her marks in caused turnovers. Peyton Romig, who has already destroyed the program records on the draw, finishes the regular season with 141 wins.

UP NEXT
The Greyhounds have earned the second seed in the GLIAC postseason tournament and will play three-seeded Tiffin this coming Friday at 7 p.m. in Allendale.
