MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The UIndy women's golf team scripted an historic performance at the Music City Invitational, held at Old Fort Golf Club in Murfreesboro, Tenn., Monday and Tuesday. Led by co-medalists
Pilar Echeverria and
Cailyn Henderson, the Greyhounds (291-275) broke a pair of major program records on the way to a 31-stroke victory.
Â
Echeverria and Henderson were on fire this week. Both women finished at -9 for the event, breaking the previous 36-hole school record by three full strokes. Echeverria carded scores of 68-67, while Henderson went 69-66. The latter's second-round score came one shy of matching the program's 18-hole individual benchmark.
Â

"I couldn't be more proud of the leadership shown by Cailyn and Pilar," stated Head Coach
Brent Nicoson. "It was very fitting that they ended up tying for the individual championship, as they battled back and forth throughout the day. It was an incredible tournament for both of them, as Pilar played 36 holes without a bogey and Cailyn got her second win in as many weeks.
"Any time a school record is broken in a tournament it's a special day."

Combined with
Anna Kramer's second-round 68, the Hounds shot a 275 (-13) Tuesday, breaking the previous team record by three strokes. Kramer finished tied for fourth at +1, as she joined Echeverria and Henderson in the top five.
Â
Competing as an individual, freshman
Katelyn Skinner (76-72) shot even par Tuesday to jump eight spots into eight place. Meanwhile, freshman
Hunter Nugent (77-74) just missed a top-10 spot, finishing at +7 to share 12th place, while fellow-rookie
Catharina Graf (78-78) tied for 30th to round out the team scoring.
Â
"We challenged the rest of the team and they responded in record-setting fashion," continued Nicoson. "I'm so thankful to coach a group of girls that are never satisfied. They showed that today by bouncing back from yesterday and shooting 13-under par. Very proud of all six players."
