Women’s Lacrosse Earns Road Win Over Lee

CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The UIndy women's lacrosse team traveled south to the state of Tennessee on Saturday and took down the Lee Flames in a non-conference battle by a score of 13-3. With the win, the Greyhounds improve to 4-0 on the year while the Flames fall to 4-1. The Hounds have now won 21 games in-a-row dating back to last season
 
Six different players for UIndy scored two or more points on the afternoon. Quinn Malcolm led the team with seven points after she tallied three goals and four assists. The duo of Olivia Bladon and Joey Fowler were close behind her with four points each.
 
On defense, four Greyhound players caused one or more turnovers, led by Amy Vegh and Mekayla Montgomery with two apiece. Montgomery also had a team-high five draw control victories while Vegh and Madison Phillips had four, respectively. Audrey Moran picked up the win in net and corralled a career-high nine saves in the process.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hounds raced out ahead to a 3-1 lead after the opening period and then proceeded to put the game out of reach early after rattling off four unanswered goals in the second. The score read 9-1 in favor of UIndy before Lee finally found the scoreboard again at the 3:13 mark in the third. The final 15 minutes saw the Greyhounds outscore the Flames by three in the winning effort.
 
 INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
-UIndy notched eight assists as a team while Lee had just one.
-The Hounds fired 27 total shots and the Flames had just 16 in return.
-The Greyhounds were nearly perfect on clear attempts after going 11-for-12.
-Both teams ended with 11 turnovers.
-The Hounds won in the draw control circle at 14-6.

"It was a good team win today. We are still progressing each week and we will continue to work on a variety of different elements of our game as we move forward in the season."
 
UP NEXT
The Hounds will return to Key Stadium on Wednesday, March 1 to battle Notre Dame (OH). The game is set to begin at 7 p.m. ET.
